Ryan Furtner
Founder & Digital Marketing Consultant
Ryan Furtner is the founder of furtzdesigns, an Adelaide Hills-based web design studio he started in 2008. He began building websites during high school and went freelance before he'd even finished year 12. After school, Ryan completed an electrical apprenticeship and became a licensed electrician — an unusual path into web development, but one that gives him a practical, problem-solving mindset and a genuine understanding of what trade and service businesses need from their online presence.
After earning his licence, Ryan moved into a front-end developer role at Buzznumbers, a social media analytics startup based in Bondi. He quickly became the lead front-end designer and developer, helping build the product that the startup successfully sold to iSentia. Shortly after the acquisition, Ryan went out on his own to start furtzdesigns — and has been running it ever since.
Today, Ryan works directly with every client. There's no ticket system, no support queue — if something needs fixing, you call Ryan and he fixes it. That direct, personal approach is why many of his clients have been with him for over a decade, and why the studio has built and managed more than 60 websites across industries including healthcare, legal, fire safety, telecommunications, trades, and community services. His work with MAC Trade Services on the REPS rebate submission system contributed to their win at the 2024 Premier's Awards for Energy and Mining.
Ryan dedicates significant time to professional development, constantly refining his tools, workflow, and technical knowledge to stay ahead of industry changes. His process is never static — it evolves with every project to ensure clients always get the best possible outcome.
